Animal Poop
It is illegal at both the county and community (HOA) levels to allow pets to poop in public or private property and not pick it up (County §12-4-909) (HOA Article VIII > Sec. 5). It is also illegal at the county and community (HOA) levels to have unleashed pets (i.e. a non-eartipped "community" cat) which as a result may also be pooping where they wish without being picked up (County §12-4-905) (HOA Article VIII > Sec. 5). Please refer to the guide that follows for what to do depending on the scenario.
What to do
Found Poop?
- Do you have a video or photo or what caused it?
- If yes and it's a domesticated animal, share this photo/video with the HOA. If HOA can determine who is belongs to, they will fine the community member. If HOA or member cannot identify the owner of the animal, member will need to report this instead to law enforcement.
Found outdoor non-eartipped cat?
- Do not trap it. That is not permitted in our community (HOA Article VIII > Sec. 5) except by the county or if a trap is provided/permitted by the county (because their authority supercedes).
- If you know the owner within the community, talk to them. If it continues, contact the HOA.
- If you do not know who the owner is (could be from outside the community), ask surrounding neighbors else contact animal control: +1 (410) 222-8900.
